Art Exhibit & Sale

The Princeton Arts Society 20th Anniversary Art Exhibit & Sale will be held May 13 - 15. To celebrate this important event, the exhibit has been expanded to include over 150 pieces of two- and three-dimensional works of art by over 75 Worcester County artists. In addition, 40 pieces of art by the students of Wachusett Regional High School will be on display, and there will be a poetry wall featuring poems regarding art written by Thomas Prince School students.

The exhibit will be held at the Princeton Center Building, 18 Boylston Avenue, in Princeton. Artwork and events will be held in the gymnasium and the new PAS Arts Society room on the first floor – both are handicapped accessible.

An Opening Artists Reception will be held Friday, May 13, from 7 - 9 pm and will feature live music by the West Wynd Clarinet Ensemble and an Awards Ceremony at 8 pm. Exhibit hours are Saturday, May 14, 10 am - 9 pm and Sunday, May 15, 12 noon - 4 pm. Several special events are planned including a Senior Open House Saturday 10 am - 2 pm; a Public Reception Saturday evening from 7 pm - 9 pm featuring ribbons and prizes to be awarded to WRHS students and live music with Jennifer Caswell and Company on keyboard with vocals; and Sunday the Popular Choice Award announcement at 3:30 pm.

The event will also include a raffle table with over 25 to 30 items of wonderful products, services, and gift certificates provided by businesses and individuals throughout the Worcester area including beautiful art work donated by member artists. A book of 25 raffle tickets will be available for a $5.00 donation. You do not need to be present to win.

Please come and help us celebrate! Refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages will be offered throughout the event. Enjoy the artwork, entertainment, refreshments and festivities. Take home a piece of original art work. A portion of all sales will benefit the Princeton Arts Society. Entry is free. This event is funded in part by a grant from the Princeton Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Princeton Arts Chorale

THE SPRING CONCERT, 2011

On Sunday, May 1, at 7 PM in the Congregational Church, the Princeton Arts Chorale will present its second fullscale show. The first occurred two years ago as a celebration of Princeton's 250th anniversary and was a great success. This year's show is called ANGELS, SING ON: A FIERCE DISPUTE OVER SONGS OF INSPIRATION. It takes place in heaven, and both the participants and the audience are angels. Harry Pape plays the part of Angel First Class Stephen Foster and argues for secular songs of inspiration, while Wendy Pape, playing the part of St.Cecilia, claims spiritual songs are more inspirational. Ken Seims has the role of God, who umpires the dispute, and the audience is the jury that judges the songs each side produces. The Chorale director (and one of the primary soloists) is again Larry Sigler, and the accompanist Janeen Baker. The manager and playwright is David Lowenthal.

The songs themselves range from pieces by Mozart, Mendelssohn and Schubert to the great rock ballad, STAND BY ME, and Elvis Presley's LOVE ME TENDER, with many negro spirituals and other favorites in between. There are singing opportunities for soloists as well as small groups. Mrs. Kerry William, Thomas Prince School music teacher, is a Chorale member, and so are TPS students Maggie Belculfini and Acadia Kopec.

Refreshments will be served afterwards in the vestry room. A donation of $5 per person and $10 per family (any size) is requested.

I've hung some paintings at the Mountainside Market (23 Hubbardston Rd, Princeton) and would love to have you stop by and take a look!  


Join me this Saturday (April 9) from 3-5 pm at a special wine-tasting event (featuring Spanish wines) and browse the artwork. Along with the originals, I'll be offering some of my new prints, notecards and books. My art will be on exhibit at the Market for the months of April and May.  There are over twenty watercolor and oil paintings on display, featuring a number of local subjects.  Make sure to look in the restroom!

TPS Community Arts Festival

A Good Snowy Morning to All!

Thanks so much to you for making last night a Wonderful night for the Arts.  I saw smiles all night and the only discouraging words were: "There's not enough parking!"  I haven't counted the guest book to see how many attended and I'm sure there were a few who didn't sign in but the pages seemed to be turning with frequency.  I will get back to you with a head count.

I am amazed at the variety of all the Arts: creative movement, music and song and visual arts.  Wow!  and it's happening in our little town of Princeton.  I'm so glad I live here.

If you heard a mention of next year, you heard right.  We're already thinking of Alphabet, letters/lettering and calligraphy....lots of areas to find a niche that tickles your fancy.  So, please, do think about next year and we'll be in touch.
